Rune Wars : Miniatures - Waiqar Core Set painting

I have been painting my rune wars miniatures since I arrived back home. Managed to finish another 2 trays worth of Cavalry before doing and surprisingly completing the Waiqar set of the core set. I guess when you get to have flow you are able to complete stuff.. who would have thunk.

PAINTING: Painting Project OMEGA PROTOCOL is done.

And over the last couple of weeks while I was resting my foot (whether it is gout or just a simple sprain). I managed to paint and complete the rest of the OMEGA protocol figs.

Someone teased me that I never really needed to finish this and should have completed my still unpainted armies but this gave me something (inspiration perhaps) to actually complete them.

PAINTING - Not exactly Miniatures but good enough (OMEGA PROTOCOL Pics)

Well I suddenly had the urge to spray bomb something and then paint but not exactly my (unpainted)  miniature collection. Had the urge to paint up the gaming pieces for my Omega Protocol set. Good thing I have been working at home for most of the days because of a bad right foot.

Not bad work I guess. Here be pics.

And after a long long time.. I finally finished me some Converted (ie replaced square with circle bases and removed the bows and arrows) Grot Crew for my Big Gunz.
Just straight up used some extra Night Goblin boyz. I like the robes for them really, maybe they are part of the Ork Mekanikus team). Still got one more Grot Crew to finish painting.. then off to doing the Shokk Attak Gun.

PAINTING : Crizpa Knights done.

Well I finally managed to finish the Crizpa Knights - Corporation Dreadball team as well as the Referee and the 2 balls from Dreadball.. Of course in all of this time to finally get it finished painting I apparently forgot how to take pictures of painted models... go figure.

The stuff I painted after the jump:

PAINTING: DREADBALL TEAM "Toyoda Destroyers" Complete

Finally a painting update.

Finished the initial 8 man team for the Marauder Dreadball team. My "Toyoda Destroyers" are complete. The mold lines were weird (and hard) to remove. Did a couple of things wrong with the painting but the team does look good from 3 feet away X).

Now I need to paint the Corporation team this time ( Crizpa Knights) and then I should be able to Varnish all of them in one go.

PAINTING: 10 More Shoota Boyz done

My how time flies.. I had started painting these boyz last April just as I was getting ready to join the Kill team as mentioned in this post. This was the second set of 10 boyz from the shoota boyz squad that I wanted to finishs.. Sadly.. Work load and a very intense Personal Emergency prevented me from finishing them all in the right amount of time.

PAINTING : Kommandos done (7)

I had finally finished painting the Kommandos done last week  last month before I went up and climbed a mountain with my Angry Bird., Biked a few rounds before Easter, Visited Doug, Went to an Island and Tried to Evade a few zombies.(whew that was my vacation.. I need to take another vacation to rest from my vacation..)

So  I only now got to post this up after I had to retake pics. So that's 7 models done (with 7 painting points done) and I realized I have to at least paint some burnas in kommando colors and maybe add some highlights to the orks faces. But for my good for table top standards they are as good as done.

WIP: What the Hell I did during my vacation the week before

[EDIT: Well this was supposed to have been for the March 5 WIP.. but hey better late than never right? X)]

Last Wednesday after going to the gym since I was bored as hell with my "vacation"  (I was supposed to go to Boracay and then to Batangas.. both events got cancelled.. no way was I going to cancel my vacation leave though.. soooo boredeom)  so I biked all the way to Festival Mall to (amongst other things) hunt for new brushes to use (since the ones that I got easily lost the point.. .

I was able to buy me an expensive Tamiya brush before I went to National and got me some reeves cheap brushes as well as a sakura brush that was a lot cheaper than the Tamiya brush..
Oooh.. I managed to buy brushes

PAINTING: Killa Kans done !!!

Finally.. after seeing the black in all these months I finally finished painting the 2 Killa Kans that I had assembled ages ago.

I realized that aside from posting this so that my readers ( you know the two of you) will get to read them is that this would also serve as a log for how I painted the models specifically what paints I actually used. You know since I tend to forgot exactly what I did and how I did it.

GENERAL: Badbeef is a Sad Panda

There goes Gladiator:

I had wanted to join the Gladiator cup and was super excited that I had spent work not facebooking and instead trying to come up with multiple armylists, specially since they allowed Imperial Armour lists to be used.

I had been trying to see what kind of IA 8 Dread mob list I can make or even just combine the units from IA 8 with the regular Ork codex.

I had planned Mekboy junkas with grot bombs and Warkoptas with Tankbustas.. Sadly that ain't gonna happen after all.

WIP: Killa Kanz

Wow.. I'm still actually painting something.. I guess the painting bug is still biting then.. Here we have a pair of kanz that I will be using for the 11 11 11 Tournament to be held on November 11, 2011 to commemorate the BUNKER's third year anniversary and sadly our last year over there.

Anyhow I got to finally start painting 2 of the plastic kans that I had for so long (two years ago??).. Only now once I started to paint the models did I realize how wrong it was to have glued the arms in already.. The model has to many bits that I may not be able to paint it all and my OC is kicking in and it's driving me nuts. I am beginning to dread having to paint the Lootas that I actually finished assembling.. Oh well.. will worry about it when I get there.

At first I really did'nt know how to paint them so like a noob I went to the GW website to see how they did it and it a bunch of reds and oranges.. this should be easy then!! The first kan i just directly applied the Red on top of the undercoat... Several layers later did I actually remember that it's better to put on a more lighter color in (Bubonic Brown was the key) to act as a neutral color so that the red would be easier to apply. With no Bubonic Brown I settled for a pinky flesh paint and hope the red and orange would stick better.

I am trully lacking a few paints though.. I am regretting the lose of my Tin Bitz. I severely need a rusting metallic color    and too much use of bolt gun metal is getting boring. The use of PP paints and there better plastic caps have at least kept my models from drying.. Too bad though that it appears that PP paints are a bit more watery. (EDIT - Obi mentioned that perhaps its too watery because I added in too much water... well doh for me)

As always I was not able to finish it all when Tournament time came but well at least its a start.

PAINTING : 10 more Ork Boyz done

Yes
Wow, I actually managed to finish another 10 ork boyz this evening. Looks like the painting bug has finally hit. The fact that I had changed my old paints  and used Semco and PP paints seems to have helped (probably because the old paints had dried up and it took me more time to coax some paint out of them than actually paint).

I am just getting to realize that PP paints are more watery than normal.. similar to Semco, and they don't do drybrushing very well. Might have to start looking at Vallejo model color and see any Citadel equivalents.

PAINTING: Ork Shoota Boyz done.

PAINTING: More Mutants nuts..

Well yet more mutants have been finished touching up and varnished. The afternoon heat has given me a headache though. I still got 5 mutants too finish and varnish but I need to put them on hold for now. The Fantasy Tournament has been scheduled on April 19 and I still haven't started doing anything yet except prime the Warboss and the Standard Bearer.

With me going to Subic I wont be able to start on them until next week. Here we go.

GENERAL AND PAINTING: Touch ups, Varnishing and ROTKXI

I was able to tear myself away from the PS2 game of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI (something that I was able to play the original waaay back in 90) and manage to touch up and then varnish some 25 mutants with 35 more to go.

I need to finish all of them within the week so that I can finally start on the Orc and Goblin army I need to play for the April GT.

here we go again

GENERAL: More loot from stuff and a bit of painting done

After I had posted that my main warhammer 40k army for this year would be Orks I surprised myself by going for yet another of my friend's bargain army deals.

It was ugly to behold with bad conversions (okay a guy holding a las cannon sponsoon is part of a Lascannon team) to a very bad paint scheme (pink with green and bad bad painting) that made me nauseous and wanting to hurl.

It was a bargain as it was cheap with lots of models. I was able to get a platoon of cadians, two squads of catachans and two Basilisks for dirt cheap. Thats 60 models and 2 vehicles all for the price of 2 squad boxes. Not bad not bad at all.

Still I am now stuck paying for something I actually did not need and making me go in debt because of some models just when money is becoming tight. I may just sell them in the end but I wont know for sure till it fancies me

Of course the first thing I am going to do with this is to throw them all in brake fluid and start removing the uh "converted weapons" that the guy made to make them "count as".

=========

Managed to actually start painting again with the wife having the urge to want to paint. She started painting my converted Ogryns while I started doing touch ups to the remaining Lost and the Damned foot troops that I haven't finished painting. As I expected the paints have started drying up to a significant degree. Hopefully I would be able to at least get to use some of the stuff before it all goes to waist.

Managed to also pin and assemble the Belakor model that I got for trade for some plastic Terminators. This would serve as the Daemon Prince (which I have named Malphas) for my work in progress Chaos Space Marines army. Of course I should be working on the mutants and do retouching and varnishing. Gotta renew my focus.

One more note.. Found the inventory of Space Ork units while cleaning the room. This does not include the other models that have not yet been assembled. Will post this list soon.

PAINTING: Stripping paint - High elves

I checked and I have the following high elf models:

  • old bowmen (5th ed models) - 9
  • multi-part bowmen - 36
  • spearmen (high elf bodies with bretonnian heads (!!!) ) - 29
  • Mage on foot - 1
  • Mage mounted - 1
  • Phoenix Guard - 3
  • bolt thrower ( 6th ed metal ) - 1
  • Silver Helms - 3

Man do these models paint jobs suck hard. I had begun the process of stripping paint of the high elves.. and have managed to remove the paint from all of the new plastic bowmen.

Was astonished though that the price of my handy dandy brake fluid just shot up. It used to be like 44 bucks for a 400 ml can now its 59 for a 150 ml one.. sheesh smaller and more expensive..
Hmmm maybe its time for me to try out that Simple Green in True Value.

However Im losing momentum in wanting to strip all the models since Jeff just told me that he will give me some plastic IG cadian models that he also got from EJ (too bad this deal came in after I got the fantasy stuff, I would have gladly paid for this instead)... ah well no more choice but to see if I can unload the models aside from the orcs and dwarves.I am still trying to convince Ricky to buy the lot from me so that I can get some cash back.

Heres to that.

PAINTING: Varnishing Dust to Dust Marines.

Well it's nearly been two months since I last posted. Frankly not much painting going on, with real life and other hobbies in the way. Well at least one of my sports season is over so back to geeky gaming.

Procrastination hit me big time though, I'm thinking the loss of my painting area (the computer table I had used before has once again been used to hold a new computer). Still can't figure out where to paint and paint effectively. Well here goes.

I have been able to fix up and then matt varnish the converted Thousand Sons Marines. I had placed too much varnish though and the heavy application is showing, same as if you overdid a model with too much super glue. I need to retouch the mutants that I have and then seal em of with Varnish as well. Well here's to finally getting it done.
