GAMING: Shadows of the Warp event - Game 1 and Game 2

Well two weeks have gone by for Shadows of the Warp tournament at the bunker. It's a rehashed 40k in 40 minutes type of format for the 5th edition setting so that the newbies can have a chance at playing with the old blood people like us who haven't out grown our toys :P

So let's see what happened:

Game 1 vs Space Wolves (Kent)
Lightning Raid vs BridgeHead
 -- what he had.
2 Long Fang units ( one with 5(!!) Heavy Bolters ) the other with 4 ML
1 ten man Grey Hunter Unit with Rhino

What happened:
- Seeing the Killa Kans he made the mistake of placing them all nice and tightly packed in a single tower with his Heavy Bolters set up at his end of the deployment zone and the grey hunters in there rhino on his right side.

I hate L deployments. I just had both boy units at the far ends of each L tip with the Kans on the edges. Lootas where at the back. inside terrain.

First turn I manage to whittle down the ML squad with a lot of Grotzooka shots.leaving only 2 left. (It still managed to blow up one of the kans though :( ) And I wiped it out to shoota fire the next turn. The Shoota Boy squad on my left was getting hammered by HB fire from the LF while the grots were sneakily creeping forward. Managed to blow up the Rhino that decided to expose itself with Loota Fire but the boyz on the left were not in charge range and proceeded to be pummelled. They managed to survive the fire when the other kan came in and ground the grey hunter unit (thought its Krak grenades were managing to shake the kan)

The Long Fangs got a taste of Loota fire and eventually ran from the table just as the grots were about to be in shooting range. That was satisfying :D

Game 2 vs Space Wolves (Felix) -- hmm I'm detecting a pattern here
Firebase vs FootHold
-- what he had
1 Long Fang Unit ( one with 4 ML ) w/ WG
1 Grey hunter unit (10 man) w/ WG and Razorback
1 Sky Claw unit ( 5 man)
7 Wolf Scouts  w/ WG

What happened:
Yet another L deployment. I had the Lootas at the Center of the L and once again the boys on either end with the Kans at the tips and the grots in front of the exposed boyz.

I could have just kept within inside my deployment and away from line of sight of his long fangs.. but decided what the hey.. lets make it interesting.. that would be my biggest mistake of this game :P

My shooting was excellent the first 2 turns. Managing to cause casualties on the LF squad and Sky Claw squad.

It started to turn though when I did not finish of the 2 remaining Claws in combat and tried to shoot at the Long Fangs causing grief to my Kans. That and the arrival of the Wolf Scouts at the back that proceeded to assault the ork boy squad on the left and grind them down.. they kept making there saves and my nob failed to hit or wound with his klaw for 8 combat phases.. sigh. the scouts would eventually wipe them out and reach one of my objectives. The GH squad meanwhile after finally wiping out the boyz on the right didnt make it to the other objective. So it was a draw.

I really got to think more before I start gaming.. that and yes this time I need to take a video or pictures :D
