GENERAL : Done TALES OF HERESY

Finally after much ado and with the year 2012 coming to a close I finally finished the Tales of Heresy book from the Horus Heresy Series.

There were a couple of good ones in there.. and a couple of ones that really felt stupid. (The Dark Angels and the Space Wolves one) still it was an okay book.

Now starting to read THOUSAND SONS

Yes I have not been able to post anything regarding the Grand Tournament that I competed in last November. Should be posting something about it sometime next week (finally I am on vacation)

GENERAL: Finished Horus Heresy: Mechanicum

Well I managed to finish Mechanicum from the Horus Heresy series books on me Kindle (now with kindle LED Light cover -- don't ask me about the price.)

I must say I actually did enjoy it.. It did only turned epic as always in the pages of the book when the shooting started. I always did like Titan battles and this one was no exception. Too bad the last fight was all for nothing.

At least I now know what the Dragon they were referring to in the Necron codex (old one).

On to the Tales of Heresy Book.

WIP - October 5, 2012

Well it is official, I had been sidetracked in doing my Kickstarter league army with having to clean and assemble 3 sets of Chaos figs from the Dark Vengeance box (the new Starter set for 6th ed gaming)

I had spent the month of September despruing and cleaning all of the models before I placed them in their own little sets of plastic containers.

That was a lot of cultist models really. I unfortunately need to get rid of the ccw cultists and replace them with the shooty DV ones because I have enough mutants from my old LaTD army. I might as well use them instead of the ccw cultists here.

I actually managed to clean and assemble all sets of Cultists and one set of Chosen and one Hellbrute

I figured I wanted to at least convert the 2 other Hell brutes that I have and figure a away to modify the two other sets of Chosen that I have. With Chaos about to come out the door by the end of the week it should be interesting what we would get and the actual points costs..

KICKSTARTER LEAGUE 2012 - 1500 points

I had signed up for the Kickstarter League last September which was going to be a 7 week thing and you had to finish 7 games. This league had been created to encourage players to get their GT armies ready as well for everyone to get the hang of 6th ed 40k gaming.

With that in mind I joined the league with the following list:

Ork with IG allies:

Big Mek.. - W/ Burna, Heavy Armor. KFF - 110 points
WeirdBoy - w/ Warp Head upgrade - 85 points

Ork Boyz - 21 w/ Nob - eavy armour, pklaw, 2 big shootas = 176 pts
Ork Boyz - 21 w/ Nob - eavy armour, pklaw, 2 big shootas = 176 pts
Ork Boyz - 21 w/ Nob - eavy armour, big choppa and big shoota = 151 pts

DakkaJet - w/ extra supashoota - 120 points

Big Gunz - 3 kannons - 60 pts
                                                          Sub total - 878 pts..

Imperial Guard detachment

Company Command Squad
- Chimera, Las cannon weapon team, Astropath

Guardsman Marbo - 65 points

Scout Sentinels x2 - AC. Searchlights - 82

Infantry Platoon - 160pts
PCS with / AC
infantry squad w/ AC
infantry squad w/ AC

Manticore - 160pts

                                                     Sub total - 622pts.

With that in mind I have managed to acquire and partially assemble a Manticore (wanted to base coat and finish painting the body before I attach the missile assembly really.

I still need to create a Marbo model though. Aside from that most of the other models are assembled and just need for me to finish painting them all.. I had planned to finish all of this before October hit unfortunately something else came along the way ... it had an 8 pointed star...

Let's see if I manage to finish anything or Chaos pulls me to it.

BATTLE BROTHERS 2012

Me and fellow grot Obi during first week of September once again in the annual Battle Brothers tournament this time held in ATC. Unlike our last list from last year where we both used Orks I thought with the advent of 6th ed that we we would use an allied Ork , IG force. Both units that would probably be appearing in a lot of other armies as allies.. :P

We arrived early for the day of the tournament .. and as always we were too early :P

Anyway on to the games !!!!

Game 1 - Vs Lord Krakentooth and Ravenkruss
- Deployment: Dawn of War
- Mission : Scouring

How did it go:

The supposed grudge match !!!. Too bad it looks like it was all hype :P. Anyway we deployed in a line facing the awesome chimera firepower army and Nurgle support. The trick was to keep shooting the ones holding the objectives with Barrage weapons while the Orks moved midfield.

The Ork meat shield was being shot to pieces by the combined shooting of the Chimeras but we held on and kept moving forward. The Plague Marines in Rhino that was going for both of our flanks got shot to pieces but one was able to destroy the Pink Basilisk on the Right.

Marbo upon entering whiffed and never even got to touch the Colossus that he threw the demo charge at. The Nurgle Daemon Prince got shot by las gun fire and actually died to a squad sgt in close combat. The scout sentinel finally made it by turn 2 and managed to wreck a chimera when it got in.

Unfortunately time was called on the game (by turn 3 I think!!!)  and we never even got to use the DakkaJet :(.

Still we managed to cause enough casualties that we managed to gain more objectives and get the win !!!

Game 2 - Vs Furyan and Mark
 - Deployment : Hammer and Anvil
 - Mission : Relic

How did it go:

Dark Eldar - ignores Night Fight.. great.. Still the short edge deployment made it sure that we had the range advantage against them. After we mostly survived the Dark Eldar and Eldar shooting (mostly because we had a lot of bodies to spare) we proceeded to shoot them to kingdom come as well. Imperial Guard Vehicles had the range to do it too.

Managed to wreck a few Venoms as well as their Ravagers and  cut much of their firepower in half.. Marbo and the Desperadoes got shredded though.. at least Marbo killed a few Warwalkers with it's Demo charge.

The Ork DakkaJet came in. we declared WAAGH and tried it's best to shoot at the Seer Council in Jetbikes. With there ability to reroll armor save though all of that WAGGH dakka just made two bikes die really.

Unfortunately they managed to take the Relic and hitail it to a ruin (which soured me a bit...but never mind) where they tried to hide as much as they could. The Warp spiders came in and the Jetbikes turbo boosted all the way to the Loota Lines.

Sadly once again time was called before we could do some heavy duty counter-attacking. With them having the Relic it was a lose for us.

Game 3 Vs. Emcee and Pat Chua
- Deployment: Vanguard
- Mission:

How did it go:

This was us basically trying to shoot shoot shoot the 40 GK Terminators that were going after us and they constantly making their saves. A few units were in close combat with the GK terminators but we managed to survive the incoming Terminators but the full force was slowly walking forward.

Fortunately Marbo came in on the board and managed to throw his demo charge to get rid of some GK on their objective and managed to contest it. Also the scout sentinels managed to kill their Warlord and then the Desperadoes managed to get the objective on their corner for us to win the game !!!

Conclusion

Well we managed to have 2 Wins and 1 Lose. Not such a bad turn out though I think we could have gotten it all if we had enough time to wipe out the Eldar players in game 2. Still it was a great tournament.. hope to be able to do it again..

WIP - Long Weekend for some.. Work still for me

Well it was supposed to be a long 4 day weekend.. Too bad that didn't happen for me.. Still did manage to do some modelling work..

Got sidetracked with the Battlewagon build and just went ahead and started to build my Dakka Jet. As always I managed to sabotage myself early on by screwing up the assembly of the nose intake and the fuselage wouldn't connect right.. Fortunately found a way to fix it.

I am liking what I saw in a BOLS battle report on how he was able to have 3 twin linked supa shootas for his Dakka Jet and I copied that design as well.. Managed to at least finish most of it before having to need to paint it.

Unfortunately as soon as I connected one wing did I realize that I had connected it wrong (the gun ammo should be on top) crap.

I have actually let go of the concept that I could assemble and paint at my room. With the baby sleeping there I might wake her up and I am afraid that she would inhale the scrapings from the models that I am cleaning. Since I don't want to work at the balcony because I have to re-arrange furniture I am back to my old desk in my oldest daughter's desk  Just needed to remove/throw out a few stuff and I should be cranking stuff in no time.. I hope.

G.I.G Session 1 for me: Ork on Ork using 6th ED

Finally got to play at a secret location somewhere where I can't say.

And had a game of 6th ed with Garr. We slowly had our first 6th ed game (which more or less lasted 4 hours) There is definitely a lot of stuff and extra funky happenings that needed to read and re-read to get the hang of this edition

(all photos taken by Garr's funky cam)

WIP: Stuff I did on the Rainy weekend

Well my laptop was out over the weekend (stupid Malware pretending to be an Antivirus) and  there was a typhoon in the area making the weekend windy and wet That meant lots of downtime... Since I was not in the mood to paint then  I might as well started to assemble the stuff that I still have and make some.

More Lobbas
Finally brought out the plasticard again (haven't done so in years)  and started to make me some scratch built Lobbas. Might have to shorten out the base though so I can put some wheels in there. I would probably need to create Kannons next time .. well the good thing with orks is at least if it looks haphazard looking, then it must be orky

Now if only I can paint these.
Battlewagon
Started to assemble the wagon that has been in storage for a couple of years as well. I still would have wanted to extend the Wagon as per some of the stuff that is on the net that is circulating but I might not have the skills nor patience and I was procrastinating too long to find out how to do it.. So meh.. might as well just get it over with.

Coming together

Ork Shoota Boyz
Started to clip out the boyz from the sprue and started cleaning them up.

Hmmm.. How many boys do I really have?

Yes all of them are being assembled at more or less the same time. I do tend to switch from project to project and yes that's a problem when you want to get something done to completion.. Still relying on the whims of inspiration..

Also with the baby in the room I had the filing and cleaning of the plastic stuff outside. I really need to force myself to just paint stuff when I am in the room. Here goes next month then.

40K KILL TEAM LEAGUE : FINALS

Well it was an uncharacteriscally sunny day for the Kill Team finals that was held in ETON. The top 3 from the North and the South would have one final game to determine who would be the reigning champion for Kill team for the month. This would also happen to be the last

As it so happens.. I was unfortunate (or fortunate) to have the Kill Team southern sector boys on both sides.  This meant that I would wink wink at both of them and just push forward instead (Hey both were Nids and both were the the ones I lost too. Unfortunately the way in front of me was nothing but Tau Firewarriors... so well here comes the pain.

The TAU gun Line in front
As (bad) luck would have it, I would mostly go second to the TAU player in front of me that would proceed to start shooting and shooting my grots and orks down. Fortunately I think he suddenly had a healthy respect for my ork firepower as I managed to actually whittle down a few of his Fire Warriors and have some of them Go to Ground. While I committed to having my orks go and get stuck in

Crossing the Line

I actually managed to make it all the way across the board (It was like a mini battle since the ones to my left and right were all focusing on the ones in front..) concentrating my fire on the TAU though I would occasionally snipe (and miss) the other players.

Ork managed to make it to the other side
I was already nearing my breaking point when I finally got the TAU player to 50% and made him go first in rolling if he retires from the field. He rolls badly and he is gone !!

Unfortunately my joy at having survived was not to last as the IG player to my front left started shooing at the grots near him.. resulting in me to start taking leadership checks as well (at Ld 7. well...)

This made me decide that if I am going down I am going to take everyone with me... So with a sneaky gleam I shot at everyone so that I can at least make them reach 50% models so that we can all start rolling for leadership checks..

Well as all of my good plans.. I choked and did not wound a single model.. > -- <

Then I promptly failed leadership check and that was that for me. Kent would eventually win the game and be crowned Kill Team champ for the year !

Conclusion

Well over all I didn't do too badly the fact that I actually made it to the finals was interesting. I had expected not to make if after an initial 2 losses  but I managed to just keep playing and see what would happen.

Well it was a great league and I am looking forward to how a 6th ED kill team league will look like.
I was not able to do my target painting which was to finish the lootas and the Nob still I managed to finish of the shoota boys so at least it wasn't a total lose.

Thank you Neutral grounds for sponsoring this event. I look forward to that 10% discount and getting me an Ork fighter :) Pictures of that event and other happenings can be found at the Neutral Grounds website here.

So long 5th ed and here's to 6th edition !!!

6TH ED and how they affect my Orks

Unless you have been under a rock the past couple of weeks you will know that 6th edition rules have just been released by Games Workshop. Of course their marketing team sucked at bringing the stuff out to light. I mean with the release from 4th ed to 5th ed you had a build up of what changes were made.

From the reviews that are coming from White Dwarf ( I haven't bought one since the 5th ed release was shown in White dwarf with the free Nob and Terminator) there were just pictures, pictures and more pictures without even a summary. So blegh.

So.. no review or at least summary of what the changes are made and what army builds are still viable. Not even a build up of hype for more than 4 months.. just that you have a 2 week announcement and that is it.

Hmm.. well then again maybe just maybe it will be explained more for the July white dwarf.. We shall see.

After trying hard to get me a copy of the of the rule book here is the reading (skim and others).. I am sure I am going to add some more insights after I re-read them all again.

6th ED RULES MUSINGS
 - Well the use of allies might be a boon for me since I have a lot of stuff that is painted but not enough to form an army.
- This looks more and more to be a Shooty Edition with the ability to still fire on the move heavy weapons.
- Assaulting from Transports are Nerfed.. Probably because of the potential for a long charge..BUT the overwatch will probably also cause the long charges to fail anyway.
- No +1 Attack when attacking multiple units. This is a killer. The loss of this and the one below are going to hurt the horde armies. (that and how assault moves are checked to be able to attack multiple chargers)
- Change to Furious charge - +1 ST and no Initiative bonus. But will not work when assaulting multiple units.
- The loss of not being able to run and then assault may be huge (well until I learn to do the math)
- The loss of not being able to assault after you come from Reserve unless stated by the rules.
--- Good bye Snikrot.. Hello Vulcha (maybe)
- Death Koptas move fast.. maybe Big Bombs are going to be so worth it now.
- Kans only having 2 Hull points.. there goes the wall of doom because
- Majority of  cover saves are at 5+ . The need for KFF is going to be more important, because of cover saves being rolled on a per model basis now.. This is going to have a lot of arguments.
- Orks cannot have psyker powers? BOOH.. I can understand that Necrons can't have them.. but we have Psyker weirdboyz.. So where is the reason as to why we do not get them?
- Looks like I want to be charged just for me to get Overwatch fire.. Shoota boyz still a good investment. Need to figure out if I can afford to put a Nob in there or not.

FAQ musings
- where the hell is the mention of what the AP value is for a Huge Choppa.. I wonder what it is going to be.
- The changes to the Glory Hog rules makes Tank Bustas viable if people keep wanting 2 FOC at 2k games then you can max out the elites with Tankbusta, lootas and burnas.. going to be less model count though.
- Lootas are still dangerous. and with the ability to make Snap Fire inside transports.. this should be interesting

What the F moments
- Nobs are considered Characters. but MEGANOBs are not.. whhaaat?
- regardless if you are assault transports you need to move only 6 inches to be able to disembark. Then the passengers can disembark up to 6in. BUT it's a normal move.. so difficult terrain needs to be rolled.

I am more tempted to game the system now by just having Allies to supplement the lose of oomph that I have. Obviously it is going to be IG.. Perhaps an outflanking Alraheim.. and Basilisks.. yeh that's the ticket.

That or perhaps it's time to dust off my Marines and give them a shot at this game.

40K LEAGUE KILL TEAM - Game 6 to 10

Nob kill team

GAME 6 vs NECRONS

And the kill team league continues.. From an impressive 7 players that were supposed to play last Sunday we were down to just 3 people. One of whom I had fought.. So there goes that plan to finish all of my 5 remaining games. Hohum

Fought the new guy with his Necron Kill Team -- consisting of 10 Deathmarks.

This was an interesting Game.. Interesting because of how we actually managed to get a draw with this game.. because both of our roles were sooo bad... it wasn't funny anymore.

First round of the game I saw that he was all lined up in one line while I had units that were hiding behind a building and was closer to him..

He realized the error of his ways when I started to outshoot him from range and he started to hide behind the buildings as well. I would manage to shoot down a couple of his models but as always they would go right back up. (Special Kill team rule for Necrons.. there Reanimation Protocols where always active)

Well I manage to decide to just stick it in and get into close combat.. Where the remainder of my models decide to stay..as I started to whiff my attacks and/or the Necrons decide to take their armor saves or they manage to get right back up.

I kept throwing models into the mix.. but my atrocious roles continued. My Nob Boss finally made it into combat but it was too little too late as we actually exceeded the 1 hour mark and it was a draw..

Wow..

GAME 7 vs SPACE MARINES (Stern Guard)

The week after I was up against Jojo and his 7 man SternGuard army.

Once again I had feelings of deja vu when my shooting and close combats started whiffing again.. Fortunately my grots came back to save my ass from the fire.

The man of the match would be once again the Grots as they showed what they can do by picking off SternGuard with their grot blasters while the Orks just shot up the real estate

Managed to bring him down to the required leadership test and he fails on the first roll !!! Woot!!! A win for the orks then.

===========================================
Needed to finish 3 games for us to make it to the deadline. Fortunately we all gamed at Lucas place and did an intense session of kill team and some 6th edition gaming

===================================================================

GAME 8 vs BLOOD ANGELS

Fought Jay and his 8 Blood Angel Jump army. Fortunately for me (and bad for him) his melta gun jumped out of difficult terrain and promptly killed himself. I then proceeded to shoot in the relatively open terrain of this kill team environment and just kept plinking away at his models.

Managed to get him down to below half  before he reached my lines. And then he fails on his leadership and I win the game !!

GAME 9 vs DARK ELDAR (Lucas rematch)

Faced off with Lucas again with his Dark Eldar Kill team. The critical part of the game was on the first turn when the alien monkey made it's charge and killed of an Ork and a grot. Fortunately the rest of his army was too far away so I targeted the Mutated beast with everything I had. I was able to whittle it down to just one wound but that meant it had 7 attacks (and Feel no Pain to booth from the pain token)

I decided to risk it and then threw a lot of bodies into the fight. I think if Lucas had decided to allocate everything to the Nob he would have beaten me but I was surprised that my regular boyz were the ones that managed to take the critter down. After that it was all just a matter of shooting at the rest of the panzies until they all broke.

GAME 10 vs BLOOD ANGELS (Jay rematch)

Another game against Jay's jump packing marines. As always it was the meltagun armed jump packer that died first. He did manage to hit my lines before I managed to decimate him. However poor die rolls on his part ensured that I managed to throw enough bodies at the combats that mattered and had him break with only one model left for him.

CONCLUSION: So 10 games with 7 Wins, 2 Losses and a Draw. Not a bad run at all. Now then all I have to do is finish painting these guys up, compete in the finals and then I can focus again on looking at the new 6th edition rules and see what I can do to make a better army for them.

PAINTING: 10 More Shoota Boyz done

My how time flies.. I had started painting these boyz last April just as I was getting ready to join the Kill team as mentioned in this post. This was the second set of 10 boyz from the shoota boyz squad that I wanted to finishs.. Sadly.. Work load and a very intense Personal Emergency prevented me from finishing them all in the right amount of time.

GENERAL: Things are coming back to normal.. I hope

Well things have just been crazy the past few weeks.

The 2nd half of May saw me handling a new project that got me so stressed that I actually stopped eating and started to lose weight.. Too bad the extra work hours prevented me from painting anything.

Then for the 2nd half of June my family and I had to attend to a major family crisis. I pray to god that it is now all under control and I am thankful that me and my wife were there to support each other through it.

I am thankful for other people's prayers and the concern and support that they have given.

Thank you all.... now then let's get back to some war gamming.

On a side note: I have actually managed to come around and start finishing the Horus Heresy Books that I have.

Managed to finish both Fulgrim and Descent of Angels in two weeks. Fulgrim seemed like the first 3 books condensed in one while Descent felt more of a Fantasy book that sort of left me hanging.. I guess there is going to be a sequel to the book afterwards (which since I'm ignorant of the whole series I assume it is so)

TOURNAMENT: FANTASY : War for the Lady's Favor

Well I promised I would play my OnG Fantasy Army for the jojo cup (in memory of our friend) and lo I played it regardless of me not having played any game of 8th Ed WHFB and with my army dusty and broken (improper transport results to broken choppas, arms and whatnot)  Still I had committed to play and so off I went to ETON Mall after spending the morning hours hunting down all of the models that I knew I had and would make up my army list (an army that I had just printed out the day before)

The place was spacious ( Not all of the stores have opened yet) which was perfect for gaming really. After I looked at all the beautifully painted armies, I slowly started to bring out my army (some of them in pieces) in shame. Still I remember jojo not caring about you having a painted army or whatnot as long as you had a good game and had fun.. (I kept telling that to myself all event..)

40k LEAGUE KILL TEAM Games 4 & 5

Well my feeble attempts at gaming continues.. with me able to get in a Massive 2 games for Kill Team.. but hey better than nothing right? Still need to get 5 more games in before the League ends.. (oh and of course one more little thing that I need to do which is like actually FINISH PAINTING THE DARN THINGS.. (sigh oh work.. how you prevent me from doing my hobby)

Game 4 - Vs Sean and his 5 man Nob army

Sean had the classic Nob Star list.. with matching Painboy!! Too bad they were all individual units though. With only 5 Nobz to worry about I just wanted to entice him to go forward and have him hack a gretchin or two before I unload with the firepower I had.

In the end he never got into close combat. I just unloaded everything I had one model at a time until I killed the Nobz and moved on to the next target.

The brought less boyz !!
So a win for me on this one. On to the next game.

Game 5 Vs Jim and his 5 man destroyer army

Jim had Necron Destroyers.. Destroyers that I learned are now only considered as Jump Jets and only fire 2 shots each a turn with only 24 in range guns (except for one that had the str9 gun). In short they feel like crap now (classic GW marketting - nerf the thing that was so powerful in the previous codex so that you can sell something else)

Jim played smart by ignoring the Grots and split firing and taking down the Ork Boyz that I had which caused me concern after the first turn. Specially since after my turn of shooting.. all 3 his Destroyers managed to get back up (modification to We'll be back protocols)

This somehow feels similar to something

Fortunately for me.. I had enough numbers to soak up the lose of my Boyz (and since he was not shooting at  the Gretchin screen in front I would still get Cover Saves of 4+ (3+ when I Go to Ground) also the fact that he mostly had 24 inches of range meant that I had guns that could reach him while he couldn't.

Managed to wipe him out thus preventing anything from coming back.

(Kudos in this game goes to my Mek boy with KMB as he played a game of Catch and Mouse with the Necron Destroyer the whole game. Tagging him when it needed and avoiding being killed in the process.

Conclusion

So 5 games in and finally have 3 Wins versus 2 Losses (both from fighting Nids)  I am feeling jubilant but I still have not fought against MEQ forces.. Will see in the coming weeks how my list will fare against them.

40k LEAGUE Kill Team Games 1 to 3

Well my plan to finally finish painting the Kill Team that I have prior to starting the 2012 LEAGUE has been met with resistance.. Noticeably the 12-13 hour work days with a busy weekend ruining my chances to try to paint and finish my boyz. (Well that's my excuse anyway)

GENERAL: More 6th Edition rumours from Tasty

Well it looks like Tasty over at Blood Of Kittens finally got his blog up and running again and he is up and about posting more 6th edition rumors. And my what rumors they are !!!

Blood of Kittens is here:

My rambling thoughts.
  • Wow I never thought they would advance the fluff to be like that. However with how the Grey Knight fluff was written... somehow I am not surprised they did this.
  • Pskyer stuff - the 6+ save is well par for course for my orks then.
  • Random charge.. this is somewhat gutting for the assault armies and will make gunlines and mech lines a lot easier. I have not been a fan of this in 8th and neither am I fan of this for 40k. At least with fantasy everyone more or less (with exceptions) have to go close combat .. for 40k this will cripple certain armies.
  • Purchase of buildings - seriously.. what? I guess this allows players to buy bunkers or barb wire and such. Meh
  • Random game stuff - well I kinda like it but depends on the execution
  • Allies coming back - seriously.. awww pure Nids don't have anyone to play with.
I don't know.. again all of the rumors you take with a huge dose of salt but I have to say that Tasty's track record have been spot on for the most part.

This just feels .. like a step backwards.

Will see as more leaks come out then.

GENERAL: Trying to get back on track

Well this April has been zero activity for me hobby wise. Not that I am complaining (well a little bit), I had a very action packed month with personal and good family time in there. And hopefully I can save up again and do the same thing next year :)

But now that April (and the funds) are ending it's time to get back on track hobby wise. I think the best thing way for me to get back into painting is to force myself to paint and what good way to do it than having to finish stuff for an upcoming event / tournament. There are two that are scheduled: A kill team League and a Fantasy Tournament in memory of Jojo Dalamias (jojobrets in the forums)

Kill Team
- Well after I failed to join the Kill team LAST year the models have more or less stayed unimproved. With the League starting by mid May maybe this time I can get to finish the models that have been spray bombed. I will still use the same list.. except for maybe I should instead of using Burna Boyz get to use Lootas instead. That would make me use this list then:

Ork List One

  • 5 Loota Orks ( 2 are Meks with big shootas, 1 regular Mek)
  • 9 Shoota Boyz
  • 1 Nob with big shoota, heavy armour, Big choppa
  • 10 gretchin
  • 1 slaver

Alternatively I can go for something else but then my whole attempt is to be able to finish at least something new that I haven't done painting yet. Will see.

Fantasy Tourney

A dear friend and gaming community member Jojo Dalomias (aka jojobrets) died because of a work related accident. He was always a good person to talk to.. full of life and truly passionate about the hobby. Always wanting to get a game in with you before he had to ship out again..

You will be missed bro
That gives me a total of 4 people that I know that were passionate about the hobby and have moved on... Well as what I would like to happen when its time to kick the bucket there would be a 2000 point Fantasy tournament to be done in his name.

O course I haven't even had a game of fasntasy 8th ed .. still now could be a good time to learn then..

So that should be my focus for the month of May. Get ready some Kill team models and get ready a fantasy army. This should be easy. (cough cough cough)

PAINTING : Kommandos done (7)

I had finally finished painting the Kommandos done last week  last month before I went up and climbed a mountain with my Angry Bird., Biked a few rounds before Easter, Visited Doug, Went to an Island and Tried to Evade a few zombies.(whew that was my vacation.. I need to take another vacation to rest from my vacation..)

So  I only now got to post this up after I had to retake pics. So that's 7 models done (with 7 painting points done) and I realized I have to at least paint some burnas in kommando colors and maybe add some highlights to the orks faces. But for my good for table top standards they are as good as done.

GENERAL: Black Saturday visit to Doug with Larry

It was that time of the year when our friend from Oversees drops over in Pampanga and unloads a ton of plastic crack for us to get our greedy hands into. This time I was with Larry as he was going to sell most of his other stuff before he and his family migrates to Australia.. (Take care dude)

Managed to get some good deals (and impulsed buyed a few more things) during our Alpha Strike of the place and played a nice game of Space Hulk as well while waiting for the rest of the others to arrive.

You should see the boxes behind me that are also for sale

Space HULK !!!

The Boyz

Had  a great spaghetti and barbecue dinner to boot. Here's to next year :)

BATREP: 1500pts Orks Vs Tyranids

Had a good game with Sunny over at his place on a nice cool Tuesday night. After 12+ years of knowing him I finally got to his house, the astounding thing was finding out how near he was to my place. The annoying part was realizing that I had to go all the way around just to reach him (sigh... thank you urban planning)

I should try running the long way. That should trim down the beer gut.

VIDEO BATREP: 1500pts Orks Vs. Space Marines (DA)

The Video Battle Reports continue !!!

Another chance to get into gaming and this time it was with Obi from Obi's Playground and we played at Jeff's very spacious warehouse office. My apologies for the shaky cam and for it being out of focus from time to time.   This was an Objective grab in Table Quarters It was another great game...

Post Mortem:
- The Warboss and Snikrot should have gone after the Attackbikes.. Or the Warboss should not have joined Snikrot this time but should have just been at the main ork unit.. So as to slingshot to the Attack Bikes and then to the Scouts.. Oh well.

I had taken too much bling and not enough boys I think. I sorely miss having an extra boyz unit to go after the first boyz unit that got stuck in get vaped. Most of my toys died the moment they showed up.. So blegh for me.. Still at least the Lootas managed to soak up most of the fire and with one model left managed to blow up the incoming Razorback.

Hopefully we can make this a monthly recurring occurrence and maybe finally get some Campaign style games going.

(EDIT: As explained to me by Sunny. A troop unit can take as many objectives it can, there is no limitation ala 4th ed where its a one to one basis.. however that limitation of two objectives per unit is usually set by Tournament Organizers themselves..so a win for me then :P )

WIP: What the Hell I did during my vacation the week before

[EDIT: Well this was supposed to have been for the March 5 WIP.. but hey better late than never right? X)]

Last Wednesday after going to the gym since I was bored as hell with my "vacation"  (I was supposed to go to Boracay and then to Batangas.. both events got cancelled.. no way was I going to cancel my vacation leave though.. soooo boredeom)  so I biked all the way to Festival Mall to (amongst other things) hunt for new brushes to use (since the ones that I got easily lost the point.. .

I was able to buy me an expensive Tamiya brush before I went to National and got me some reeves cheap brushes as well as a sakura brush that was a lot cheaper than the Tamiya brush..
Oooh.. I managed to buy brushes

GENERAL: Gaming at Jeff's place:

After Obi saw my last video Batrep here.. he wanted to get some games in at Jeff's office as well (which was practical since it was so near his place) So I met up with him last Saturday and off we went to have a game or two in.

First game in was Obi versus Jeff with an Annihilation Mission and with me taking pictures of the match.

WIP : Ork Attack Buggy

Well during the middle of my long vacation I finally decided to at least start on making the converted Attack Buggy. I thought it was going to be easy.. just take out the screws and pop open the wheels.. Well then i saw that it was using a funky kind of screw.

What the F?

WIP: Kommandos and Dread and Kan Spray Bombing

As a further motivating factor to keep me going painting and modelling wise I will be forcing myself to do  a weekly Monday Work in Progress Report.. (WIP for short.. duh) maybe it will get me to keep pushing myself on the stuff I have been doing. (However for this first one this is  a scheduled post (as I am gone for the week)  but at least this should set the tone when I get back from my one week sailing "vacation"

I had started cleaning the dust out of some of the models that I had wanted to spray bomb... I had them washed in soap and finally placed some basing already for them.

VIDEO BATREP: Orks versus GreyKnights

This is my first batrep and first game for the year 2012... yehey... This was a rushed video bat rep.. had to rush home for a family emergency.. and it didn't help that the camera was giving low charge warnings on its battery.

Still I manaaged to take some pictures as well to show the deed.

PAINTING: Killa Kans done !!!

Finally.. after seeing the black in all these months I finally finished painting the 2 Killa Kans that I had assembled ages ago.

I realized that aside from posting this so that my readers ( you know the two of you) will get to read them is that this would also serve as a log for how I painted the models specifically what paints I actually used. You know since I tend to forgot exactly what I did and how I did it.

BOARDGAME: Good times with Sthrad and Raipo

Though nothing was done modelling wise with my projects for this week, I did manage to get some geeky Board Gaming time with Raipo coming in straight from his night shift work to crash at my place before gaming as well as Sthrad that had came all the way from San Antonio Zambales to get a game in; despite having to reschedule the the event 2 days prior to the weekend.

HOBBY CAFE: The Coalition of Evil Battle Report

(This was an old post way back in 2001 for the Budda Budda league.. it was a League format that we had done for the store. Ah the glory days back then with the old rhinos and card made Land Raiders.. fun times.. that and look I was thin back then :P )

The Coalition of Evil

During the first Budda Budda Leaue we decided to try something special and do a mega battle that allowed us to field all of our armies against each other and so it came to pass, an alliance of EVIL (well not really) vs the forces of Humanity. We fought a 5,500 point battle over an 8 x 4 table. The scenario we played was the Sea of Green.
The GoodGuys (or as I would call them the Imps)
Here we have Wolf Lord Jeff Jongko, Sister of Battle Owen Ilagan and Marine Commander Angelo Almeda. Jeff got to field a 3,000 point Space Wolf army, a dream come true. Oh and the guy with the cap on the left is just extra.

The Bad Guys (or the Misguided, the Dark, and the Green People)
Peter (Chaos), CJ also known as 'D' (Dark Eldar), Jonnel and Louie (Da Orks). Yes we are going to go home wiping the pansies of those 'oomies, you bet!
All right, now that you know who is who, LETS GET TO IT!!!

GENERAL: Badbeef is a Sad Panda

There goes Gladiator:

I had wanted to join the Gladiator cup and was super excited that I had spent work not facebooking and instead trying to come up with multiple armylists, specially since they allowed Imperial Armour lists to be used.

I had been trying to see what kind of IA 8 Dread mob list I can make or even just combine the units from IA 8 with the regular Ork codex.

I had planned Mekboy junkas with grot bombs and Warkoptas with Tankbustas.. Sadly that ain't gonna happen after all.

GENERAL: HOBBY CAFE - A Bygone era

It boggles the mind to think that I have been at this hobby for almost 20 years (and still without a finished army - that will be for another post). I remember first being introduced to the game by a college mate of mine. The original Shakk boy denizen Rey Reyes (may you keep rolling sixes in heaven dude) we had played using rogue trader back in 93. I think we were still using the Rogue Trader rulebook or something but I didn't care.

All I remember was that the orks I had were tasked with holding the bridge from the Space Marines and the Gretchin with demolition charges saved the day by having them run forward to the Marine lines and acted as suicide bombers. It took us 8 hours to finish that game and the sun was waaay up when we parted ways but it was one great game.
