TOURNAMENT: GLADIATOR 2012 It starts again

The Gladiator 2012 season has been announced !!! Holy crap this got me by my pants down !!!.. 7 Weeks of Gaming as announced on the MWPH (Miniature Wargamming Philippines forum -- which I troll about) ..starting January 30, 2012. With work starting to settle down somewhat I may be able to pull out some gaming at ATC Alabang. Looks like my plan to slowly complete my orks has gone into overdrive.

(Well I got two weeks to think of an army list then.. Here goes... crud)

The mechanics for the game can be found here..

Or if you are not a member can be read after the jump:

GLADIATOR 2012

Armies will consist of 2000 points using a standard force organization chart. A player may only enter one(1) army list.

The Warhammer 40K 5th Edition Rules will be used.

The following is a list of legal army choices for use (recently printed codex):

Codex: Chaos Marines
Codex: Grey Knights
Codex: Dark Eldar
Codex: Eldar
Codex: Imperial Guard
Codex: Necrons
Codex: Orks
Codex: Space Marines (including Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Relictors from US White Dwarf 287)
Codex: Tau Empire
Codex: Tyranids
Codex: Sisters of Battle (white dwarf issue)

You may also use any units in Imperial Armor apocalypse 1 and 2 SECOND EDITION only except for flyers and super heavies as long as you have the BOOK. Models used must be properly converted and no proxies allowed. If in any case that a player has an IA unit and doesn't have his book with him before the game, he cannot use that unit.

Special Characters are allowed, assuming that they are playable at 1500 pts. (yep even those that need opponents consent are playable)

What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) will be implemented. If you wish to use an item, it must be represented on the figure.

You must provide access to your own rules (which include the actual Codex used for your army), dice, templates, pen/pencil, calculator, or anything else you'll need during the course of regular play.

Each player is also required to have silhouette of each of their vehicles to represent a crater. Players are also required to make their markers for wounds, vehicle damage, and any abilities that can be conferred to a unit/units. Each player must also have a printed FAQ of their respected army that can be downloaded at Games-workshop website.

Groupings and Games:

1. Players will be divided in to two (2) Groups: the Union (north), and the Confederates (south)

2. Players will be required to play seven (7) games against players within their respective Groups. Out of these games they accumulate corresponding points based on Game Result and Bonus Points made available during the weeks that follow.

3. Of the 7 games, a player may be allowed only one (1) rematch against a fellow player from the same group, but scores from both matches will be recorded.

4. Games can be arranged by agreement between players and played at their convenience, with at least a third player acting as witness. With Galleria, ATC and the Glorietta as very visible venues for the games, any games arranged outside these three mentioned will require validation by the third player acting as witness. Forms will be made available to the Small Dictators of each gaming sector (format will be included below) with the witness having to sign as proof.
Together with this, I recommend that the 2 sectors set-up their own Challenge Threads here in MWPH like last year. This will help make sure that everyone gets in their games on time.

5. This year's Gladiator will be different, we will be using multiple objectives and battle points (BP) system.

6. A gaming week starts every Friday and ends the next Thursday where a new Weekly Bonus Objective will be announced for the next gaming week.

7. Each player will and must use the 2000pt list submitted. Lists must be submitted to me: ian0615@yahoo.com before the deadline. Once approved and finalized, all army lists can no longer be changed.

8. Tournament Fee will be at 700 Pesos to be paid before starting your first game in the tourney. Payments can be either given to me or to the assigned small dics per group.

Deadlines
Army List Submission and Registration – January 29, 2012
Start of the Gladiator Tournament – January 30, 2012

Points to be awarded:

1. Win-Loss:
This year we will be using Game Points (GP) to determine victory. Each claimed objective corresponds to X value of GP.

a. Win (More GPs than the Opponent): 5 BPs
b. Draw (Equal Number of GPs): 2 BPs
c. Loss (Less Gladiator Points than the Opponent): 0 BP

2. Humiliation:

The Gladiator Cup will also Award the following Additional BPs (cumulative) to the Win-Loss score received:

a. Wiped out the entire enemy HQ slot: +2 BP
b. Wiped out the entire enemy Elites slot: +2 BP

c. Wiped out the entire enemy Troops slot: +4 BP
d. Wiped out the entire enemy Fast Attack slot: +1 BP
e. Wiped out the entireenemy Heavy Support slot: +1 BP
f. Killed at least one unit of Imperial armor unit: + 1 BP
g. Wiped out the entire dedicated transport: +1 BP

*Kindly note that dedicated transports (Rhinos, some Landraiders, Raiders, etc.) do not count in resolving casualties nor units that do not count in the standard force organization (ex. Chaos Spawn, Lesser Daemons, etc.). If there is no unit taken from a slot(eg no Fast Attack choice) then points will not be awarded as there was nothing to kill to begin with.

h. Bonus Points awarded in the Weekly Bonus Objective Scenarios (To be announced at the start of the gaming week). Missing a gaming week makes you ineligible for that bonus. If you miss a game you can catch-up by playing an extra game or two for the week but you will only get one set of bonuses for each week.

3. The Scorecard - Each game will be recorded as follows:

Match-up Player 1 Name Player 2 Name
Army

Game points scored:
Battle points scored (Win = 5 BPs; Draw = 2 BPs; Lose = 0 BP):

HQ:
Elites:
Troops:
Fast Attack:
Heavy Support:
Dedicated transport(s):
Imperial armor:
Weekly Bonus Scenario:

Total Battle points Scored:

Player's Signature: ______________
Opponent's Signature: ______________
Witness: ________________

Games will be recorded and validated by representatives assigned to the three Groups, a copy of which will be given to the Grand Dictator where the official scores will be posted (hopefully) on a regular basis.

4. Painting Bonus
At the end of the 7 weeks of gaming, Full Painted Armies will receive a bonus of 3 Battle Points. To reward the players who have taken the time and the effort to make their armies presentable throughout the tournament, and at the same time to put focus on another aspect of our hobby. After all two fully painted armies fighting is quite a sight.

5. Tie breaker
In any case there would be a tie in BPs for determining the rank of each player, we will use the total accumulated game points (GP) as a tie breaker. And in any case that the total accumulated game points (GP) is tie, then we will use strength of schedule.

6. The Final Round

a. At the end of the 7th gaming week, the top 4 from each Group 4 will be selected based on the accumulated BP scores. Those selected will proceed to the Final Round.
b. The Final Round will be at ETON gaming area, the date of which still has To Be Determined. The final round will be played in Swiss style.

7. Small Dics

Confederates: Adonis
